趴趴虎的旅遊世界

During lunch time, listening to Singtao Chinese Radio FM 96.1MHz, Ms. Tang Ling interviews "趴趴虎" for California famous writers. Culture, travel, history, sounds interesting.

His website 淡江人在北加 > 龍行天下 has a lot of great local travel ideas, two examples are 【聽海2008】, 【看山2008】. So many good places!

Photography: flash related

Flash: strobe, speedlight, "闪光灯".

Strobist ! This is such a wonderful and amazing blog, suggested by Eric, now I'm reading through the Lighting 101 posts. Thanks so much for its owner David Hobby.

Reading about the sync between camera hot shoe -- flash. Dig out my old Yinyan BY-24ZP that I bought in Beijing in about 1996(?), do a Google and find the manufacturer website: Yinyan (银燕) flashes It has a tech 101 page in Chinese. The website is not well designed, the online shopping page really sucks. But I figure out my BY-24ZP is high voltage triggered, I measure the voltage is around 220V DC!

Internet and Google are really amazing. I google "hot shoe pinout" and find this website: http://www.carlmcmillan.com/Optoisolated_Adapter.htm It has an opto-coupler between low voltage hotshoe and high voltage trigger voltage flash. :) Maybe I can make one and embed the circuit into my old Yinyan.

This site also has links to: http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html (Strobe trigger voltages) and http://www.botzilla.com/photo/G1strobe.html (Canon related)

On eBay those Nikon SB-800 speedlight units were sold at around $320. Why bother bid instead of buy from B&H? Ouch, I know why! SB-800 shows "discontinued" on B&H! It is replaced by SB-900...

It's late Saturday night, time to sleep.
